Cheesy Hot Crab Dip

dsc_0242Nothing better than a nice hot dish of crab dip for a party or for game time snacking and while I have several recipes, I usually take the best of them and a few of my add ins for this special treat…we get fresh crab meat around here so there is no excuse for lousy canned stuff, but if you can find a decent brand where you live or just check out good recommendations online.  When I lived in the midwest (so far from oceans), I found Phillips to be a great substitute and available in several Sam’s Clubs, Costco et al.  You can add some drained and chopped artichoke hearts, but its all about the crab mea for me.  Serve with your favorite “goes with” crackers or vegetables.  Perfect the playoff games or for Super Bowl grazing.

8 ounce softened cream cheese, at room temperature
2 cups favorite grated or shredded cheeses, I love a good mix of  Monterrey Jack, a sharp white and mild cheddar
4 tablespoons cups Duke’s mayonnaise
1/4 plain Greek yogurt
1/4 cup minced shallot
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tablespoon favorite hot sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice and some of the zest
1 teaspoon Phillips seafood seasoning
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon white pepper

Instructions –
Use a large bowl to blend crab dip…
Preheat oven to 350º degrees
Blend together the cream cheese, mayonnaise and sour cream
Stir in the cheeses, shallot, garlic, Worcestershire, lemon juice, zest, hot sauce, lemon juice and zest.  Season with pepper and seafood seasoning until thoroughly combined.
Fold in the picked over crab meat and transfer to a buttered baking dish or dishes.
Bake at 350º for 25 minutes until golden bubbly and brown…serve with assorted crackers.
